Book Group Registration & Terms of Participation

Heather King, Root and Branch Spiritual Growth

1. Nature of the Group

This book group is an educational and community discussion group centered on spiritual and reflective reading. It is not therapy, counseling, or a substitute for mental health treatment, and no clinician-client or patient relationship is formed by participating. The facilitator may hold professional credentials as a minister and/or licensed clinical social worker, but is not acting in a clinical or pastoral-counseling capacity while facilitating this group. Discussion is limited to the assigned reading and general reflection; it is not individualized clinical guidance.

2. Fees and Payment

  • Payment is due at registration. 

  • Cancellation & refunds: A full refund will be granted for cancellations up to one week prior to the start date.

  • If the facilitator cancels a session, participants will receive a make up session.  

3. Group Conduct and Confidentiality

Participants agree to engage respectfully and to allow space for differing beliefs and perspectives.

No recording of sessions (audio, video, or written transcription) is permitted without the advance consent of the facilitator and all participants present.

4. Voluntary Participation and Emotional Content

Participation in this group, including all discussion and reflection, is voluntary. Reading and conversation topics may occasionally touch on personal, spiritual, or emotionally meaningful subjects. Participants are welcome to engage at whatever level feels comfortable and may decline to share at any time.

5. Referral

If a participant's needs appear to go beyond the scope of a discussion group, the facilitator may suggest individual counseling, pastoral support, or other outside resources. This group is not a substitute for such services.

6. General Terms

  • The facilitator does not warrant or guarantee any particular personal, spiritual, or emotional outcome from participation.

  • The facilitator may modify the group's schedule, format, or these terms with reasonable advance notice to participants.

  • These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Massachusetts.
